WHO WE ARE
Big Island Nannies was started in January of 2002 by Marla Hanson and Jackie Ohata. After years of being professionals in the field of childcare, they decided to pool their knowledge to create a service that would provide Big Island Visitors with safe, reliable and fun childcare.
Marla Hanson was a preschool teacher/director in Northern California for thirteen years and worked as a teacher in Marin County California for six years before moving to the Big Island where she worked for Head Start and then started Big Island Nannies with Jackie Ohata.
Jackie Ohata owned her own daycare center in Kailua Kona, Jackie's Keikiland, for five years on the Big Island of Hawaii. She also taught kindergarten through third grade as a substitute teacher in the Hawaii public school system. Jackie is now a member of Business and Professional Women\USA.
Both are affiliated with PATCH.
